My mistake. My original type was correct.

It should be dc.GetTextExtent(...)

Also, if I were using MM_TEXT, I would have to subtract the extents of the
window. I would also have to use DPtoLP(). I would also have to do it your
way if the text were placed at the top of the window, for the coordinates
were switched to the bottom-left.
