WRONG solution! Don't do that. Do what those articles have told you. Leave System32 for the
Windows OS only.

Thanks. I don't want to "distribute" as such, only get things working on other
machines of my own. I found by experimenting that putting the redist DLLs in
System32 and their manifests in the EXE's home directory was sufficient.
