How do i go about using plus, minus etc in a vector? I can populate
the container correctly, but when it comes to doing a function call,
i cannot operate on the binary_function type as it does not have a
operator() defined.
If you use a compiler that supports TR1 classes (such as VC2008 SP1, or
earlier VC versions together with Boost), you can have a vector holding
appropriate specializations of std::tr1::function:

Before that, there was no functor class in STL that would exhibit
polymorphic behavior.
Of course you can roll your own, but writing something that comes
anywhere near close to the convenience of std::tr1::function is very
difficult.
