Hmm. I am using Windows 7. IE makes you click some overrides to run
unsigned Java Applets even though they are safe. It lies and makes
them sound very dangerous. Perhaps it is screwing up copy/paste on
purpose.
On the other paw, implementing copy/paste with non-peer components
would require extra work. Perhaps Sun did not do the work, as a dig at
MS.

I tried Firefox on Windows 7, and I could copy/paste the text from the
Password Generator text box to a cmd.exe window. So I went back to
Linux/Firefox and now that won't work at all.
There is clearly some strange interaction between the browser clipboard
and the desktop clipboard, and applets are compounding the problem.
