Thanks for your reply!
You can show your apprecation by trimming replies,
and posting 'in-line' as I am.

What browser? (Brand, version and OS please.)
...
My OS is Windows XP SP 2. Both Internet Exporer 6.0 and Firefox
2.0.0.1 are crashed.
So the problem (so far) seems to be confined
to Windows? (Given Hiwa's 'all OK' from Linux)
Look at this url :http://demo.annesdiary.com/fp/enrol.php
....
It contains an applet, which will download java native libraries
..no. I cannot afford to be dealing with
natives from untrusted sources.
..I wrote that source, it's safe.
And who are you? 'Some guy on usenet said
it was safe' hardly makes a difference when
the system is trashed due to malevolence,
incompetence, or a fatal bug in the JVM that
is exposed by the code.
I checked your profile before I first replied
(since I had never heard of you before), and
noted you had made an entire 19 posts under
this identity.
One thing might satisfy me (partly) is if
you were to sign *all* the code using a
certificate from a CA, but while part of
that code is verified by a Thawte
certificate, the other (I guess your part)
was signed with a 'self signed' certificate.
Or alternately, and in fact, better ..*
Note that does not cover me for points
2 and 3 mentioned above, the competence
of the code, nor the possible JVM bug
exposure, but if you were to ..
* post your code as well,
...I might be able to satisfy
myself that it does not do anything too
radical or silly, then compile (sign) and
run it here.
If I can do that, I am prepared to accept
the risk of the last worry, that this code
exposes a serious & damaging flaw in the JVM.
(As an aside, my system has previously had
serious and long lasting problems from code
that exposed JVM bugs. No fault of the
original poster, or *their* *code*, at all.)
But ultimately I bring you back to my
original suggestion, to which you made
no reply - 'web start'.
I cannot guarantee it will fix anything,
but it is worth a try, and at least gets
the launch free of (most) browser related
problems.
