According to the documentation of CDataSource, the Open method doesn't throw
any exceptions.

Are you getting an exception at that line?!

if you are then maybe try this

try
{
   hr = DS.Open(strtemp, &dbInit);
}
catch(CException *e)
{
   TRACE1(_T("Caught it. %s"), e->GetErrorMessage());
   e->Delete();
}

I tried to write catch(Exception ex)
but the compiler complains about the identifier Exception
I have also written #include <exception>

How should I write ?

It depends on the type of DS. We don't know it since
you did not tell us. Consult the documentation of the
Open() method of DS.
