Not sure if I follow but here is how to search for files.

void CMySearchDlg::StartSearch(CString StartPath)
{
    CFileFind finder;
    BOOL bWorking = finder.FindFile(StartPath+"\\*.*");
    while(bWorking)
    {
        bWorking = finder.FindNextFile();
        if(!finder.IsDots())
        {
           if(!finder.IsDirectory())
           {
                //its a file see if it is what we are looking for
                char Filename[MAX_PATH];
                char Ext[MAX_PATH];
                _splitpath(finder.GetFilePath(),NULL,NULL,Filename,Ext);
                if (stricmp(Ext,".txt") == 0)
                {
                     //Found Text File
                }
           }
           else
           {
                //search sub directory
                StartSearch(finder.GetFilePath());
           }
       }
   }
}

I have an app that needs to search for a specific file ext. I need the
functions of the standard file search that Windows supplies but want to

place

it inside my App with limited functions. Mainly time and date search. Is
there any examples on how this search function is displayed or a certain

call

that I can make to the OS? I can write a complex proceedure but do not

want

to reinvent the wheel is its available.
