First off, please don't scream at me because I did not write this code :)

You posted it, so you are responsible for it. In particular you could have
reduced it to a minimal example. Oh, and you could have cleaned it up, too,
which should be the first step when you have any issues with code.

class IAssignVertexColors : public FPStaticInterface {
 typedef struct {
 } Options;
};
class IAssignVertexColors_R7 : public IAssignVertexColors {
 class Options2: public Options < C2504 'Options' : base class undefined
(VC++ 6)
 {
 };
};

So please help, should I just overwrite the original source code or add a
"friend" on that line?

What do you think a friend is give you and on which line? Rather, refer
directly to the baseclass' Options class instead, i.e. '..public
FPStaticInterface::Options'.
