When MFC was introduced, their C++ compiler didn't support namespaces. ATL,
on the other hand, is enclosed to a namespace.

I think the explanation is the same you wrote for CView0, i.e. to avoid
name conflicts. For example, there is class CTable in OLE DB, and so the
wizard disambiguates the class created from type library calling it
CTable0
BTW: I was thinking that in this case using namespaces like
PowerPoint::CView or PowerPoint::CTable would be better than the class
name
ending with 0.
