Hi Alex,

I just tried this:

1. Insert a new menu item... it called it IDR_MENU4 in my case
2. Highlighted the menu item in the tree (no double click).
3. Went down to the Properties window right at the bottom (yours could be
anywhere, but I keep mine right below the resources)
4. Changed the ID to IDR_TOMMENU
5. It changed it immediately in the tree as well.

There must be something we're still missing if this isn't working for you.

Here is the problem which I couldn't solve so far even with your help.
4. I right button click on edit resource window, got Properties at the
bottom, clicked it.
Appeared Properties List window (by the way it remains empty until
I clicked on it ).
Here I could edit the ID, closed Property List. But IN THE
RESOURCE TREE WINDOW it's still IDR_MENU1. Though if I double click
it and again go to the properties than ID shown is my ID, i.e. ID I'd
entered, not IDR_MENU1. ???

So how to change this ID in the resource tree?
Thank you very much again (sorry for bothering MVPs with such stupid

By the way working with the ID's from Property list is extremely
inconvenient. For example often I need to copy and past this ID in my
code. Double click on it sometimes causes replacing its value with
another one from combo box and you are lucky if you remember the
original value....
