I used JBuilder which I see is not built on Eclipse. I always thought the
Borland tools were kind of OK. Not great, but better than many others. I
still miss the C++ resource workshop and it's been many years since I used
that one.

Have you ever tried to use the abomination that Sun laughingly called a
"development
environment"? I did. I sucked. It sucked so bad that notepad and a
command shell were
vastly superior. It sucked so bad, in so many ways, that a little
informal project called
"Eclipse" was created to replace Sun (get it? Eclipse? Sun?).

The issue is not how long it takes to process a directory list; you have
NO IDEA what is
going when when a directory list is being processed, so you have zero
basis for doing the
comparison.

Microsoft did not like the way that Sun owns and controls Java so
Microsoft designed the CLR and the C# langauge.

Not really. They did it to renew revenue opportunities.

And Thank you Microsoft, because IMHO the quality of C# and .NET is
superior to that of Java.

Really? How come I've never had a java app take as long as VS2005 to
populate a directory list when opening a file?
