Is the implementation of a Resource DLL mutually exclusive with the use of
MFC in a static library? If so, why? If not, could anyone offer any tips
that might help me avoid some pitfalls. Links to any resources (no pun
intended) would be appreciatated.

As Serge has said, there is no problem with static linking MFC and using
resource DLL's. I've shipped several widely deployed apps that do this. I
think the advantage of using shared MFC is that any internal messages that
MFC generates will be localized if you redistribute the localized MFC DLL's.
Whereas, MFC will be statically linked only in English (I presume) in your
app. But I've never had a problem with this because at no time did my app
ever show an internal MFC message in the wrong language. (I'm not sure MFC
ever shows any message like this; if it does, it is only in the rarest of
cases.)
