If you look at the property for the icon resource it will tell you what file
it is saving the image to. It must likely is already saved in the res
directory.

You should change icons of all possible size and color depth. In VC++6.0
there are only two icons (16x16 and 32x32).
In VS2008 there are already 9 icons!

I'm using VC++6.0 . If I could find where it's saving the edited icons
that I see in the
IDE then I could move them to the res folder and overwrite the default
ones.
Also I'm wondering if there is some way to move the edited icons to the
default mfc
path folder so the edited ones will be the default

I have an MFC generated EditView app that still shows the MFC
icon ( on the main window only ) even though the only two icons
in the app ( IDR_APPNAME, and IDR_MAINFRAME ) are not
the MFC icon. I edited the irons in the Resource Editor. The edits
show up in the Resource Editor. But when I run the app the main window
still shows the old MFC icon but the About Dialog
does show the edited IDR_MAINFRAME icon. I've checked the path names on
the properties and they are all the same,
res\AppName.ico , res\whatever.ico etc etc.. And when I open
these ico files manually in said res folder, they are "not" the edited
icons. What is going on, where are the edited icons ?
