Re: Parphrasing is always better than a quote.
Hi Jeff,
I think most people here would disagree with you. Your style of changing
the subject for every post is very confusing to me, but I just deal with it
and figure you might not like something I do either.
I hate bottom posting. I sometimes don't even read messages where I have to
scroll through many lines just to try to figure out what the person wrote
that was new. At least having the >> in front of the lines makes them
identifiable. You're right on one count. If you want to see the original
message it's likely still in the tree and you can always turn on the already
read messages to follow the tree back up.
I believing in good trimming though :o)

I hate the ??? >>> > > >> ??? style quoting,
it's just plain lazy, if you ask me;
better to use plain ol' everyday English, like you see in books.
Parphrasing is always better than a quote,
but most are too lazy to do it.
Real newsreaders ( e.g. Outlook, not Google Groups )
have an arrow icon that takes you to the parent post;
e.g. hit it 4 times and you're at the great great grand parent.
For example, this is the current sub-thread,
most recent first, going up the root:
