I typically put a few buttons in my About boxes with things like "List
Module Versions" to list the versions of the actually DLL's loaded, "Get
System Info" to load MSInfo, "Get Additional Program Info"... to show more
version info. It's quite easy to do. In fact, we now have a button where
our programs with send configuration information in the form of an XML
string to our home server so our call center guys can get more information.
The user has to request this and approve the action with several prompts,
but it has proven to be a useful tool.

You're right that some of the informaiton is not displayed. Perhaps
MSFT thought this was superfolous to the normal desktop user and got rid
of it in difference to easy of use. You could modify PJ's test program
pretty easily

*I* don't really need to look, as I can look at my VERSIONINFO In the
source code :-)

I (used to) tell users that it was a good place to look for details of
which build they were using though. I guess I'll have to put it all in
the about box - which of course is only available if you launch the
program.
