Yep, I'm /blogging/.
Hope that doesn't mean you'll post less here. I read comp.lang.c++ for
the mix of different people, and I sure won't go to a place where I
can only listen to /one/ of them, through an unfamiliar and awkward
interface.
Thanks. And yes, it seems to be an awkward interface, both for the reader and
the blogger. But I'm new at this, there's probably more to be discovered...
To create a new posting I currently have to write it up in a local editor, then
paste it into the WordPress "HTML editor", then switch viewing to WYSINWYG,
which alters the HTML code, then post it, which again alters the HTML code and
additionally ignores (apparently by arbitrary rules) certain tags, then check
the result and do it all again iteratively until it looks sort of OK. I'm
guessing that that's the cost of using the free WordPress hosting. Presumably
when one owns the hosting one doesn't have to go through that rigmarole?
Anyway, I discovered that replies to postings were set to be moderated; I've now
turned that off, I have enough moderation already, thank you WordPress. Also,
code examples are not presented with glorious syntax highlighting and line
wrapping or scrolling unless the browser has JavaScript enabled (it may also be
a problem with RSS readers). I've posted a fixed sidebar note about that.
Cheers, & thanks,
- Alf
