I'd like to see more competent programmers that use their brains, rather
than blaming a lack of tools for their poorly written code. [Of course I
am fully aware that this already applies to everyone in this thread...

IMHO, the sort of things that automated analysis finds, are trivial
repetitive tasks that the smarter programmers are more likely to suffer from
(due to boredom, I mean stuff like keeping prototypes in sync with the
function definition, etc). Let the compiler find those, letting the
brainpower go into designing correct, efficient, deadlock-proof parallel
algorithms.
